2008 ISGA Convention in Cancun Mexico
By Mauricio Torres
The convention in Japan turned out to be excellent. We all had a wonderful time. We learned much about Japanese culture and it was a very profitable experience for all ISGA members. At each Convention we, the growers and people in the sprout industry from all over the world, get to know each other better and that strengthens the Association and all growers' businesses. These links help us build a more important influence in the fresh produce market around the globe, and have a louder voice to express the benefits of sprouts for people in everyday diet.
ISGA is committed to being a truly international organization, so in 2008 the Convention will take place at Me Cancun Hotel, a wonderful resort in Cancun surrounded by the beauty of the Caribbean Sea. The hotel rate at this luxury resort will include three meals a day. Me Cancun Hotel is one of the most sophisticated and exclusive resorts in Cancun and is located in one of Cancun's most fashionable areas. Members from overseas will find it easy to get to Cancun. Cancun's international airport is the busiest in Mexico; therefore, all members will find it easy to arrange direct flights, in most cases, from major airports.
The Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, where Cancun is located, is full of the culture and folklore of Mexico. At the Convention, members and attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the country. A tour to Chichen-Itza, a breath-taking pre-Columbian archeological site that was recently named one of the seven new wonders of the world, is planned. To take this tour, which is $122 USD per person, reserve and pay for it by clicking the the following link,http://www.aleventos.com.mx/isgahotelreservation.html.You may make your hotel reservations at the same time.
The theme of this years' Convention is "Our world of sprouts." Presentations at the convention will focus on internal issues and situations which growers have to face every day. A more detailed outline of the content of these presentations, as well as speakers, will be forthcoming with the formal invitation packet.
Just as in Japan, all ISGA members will have the opportunity to get together, keep updated about the sprout industry, network with people from all over the world and improve all growers' businesses. Along with this profitable experience, members will have the opportunity to learn about Mexico, its people and its culture. A plus to take into account is that the Convention will be at the beach! We Mexicans are both excited and honored to host the 18th annual Convention in our country. We will be delighted and happy to see you all in Mexico in May 2008. Do not miss this extraordinary opportunity. Come to Mexico. We guarantee it will be a great experience for all ISGA members.
