Sprouter Training Course

This course will be taught during convention week.  It begins Thursday afternoon, April 27 and continues through Saturday, April 29. The cost is $550.

Course Description:  The FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule establishes science-based minimum standards for the safe growing, harvesting, packing, and holding of certain produce grown for human consumption.  Unless specifically exempt or excluded, sprout growing operations are subject to the Produce Safety Rule including the sprout-specific requirements in subpart M. This two and a half day Sprouter Training Course developed by the Sprout Safety Alliance (SSA) is the “standardized curriculum” recognized by FDA. Successfully completing this course is one way to meet the requirements for training under the Produce Safety Rule- “at least one supervisor or responsible party for each sprout operation must have successfully completed food safety training at least equivalent to that received under standardized curriculum recognized as adequate by the FDA”.  Also it is helpful in understanding and implementing the Produce Safety Rule requirements and best practices for enhancing sprout safety.

What does successfully completing the SSA Sprouter Training Course mean for me? Upon successful completion of the full, two and a half day SSA Sprouter Training Course, you will receive email notification upon completion of the course with instructions on how to download SSA Sprouter Training Course certificate.

About the Instructor:  Manny Wong is a pioneer in the sprout industry. He will bring his long history with food safety and working with the FDA to add value to the course.  Manny will provide this training based on the requirements laid out by the FDA.  There will also be representatives from FDA available during the class to answer any questions you may have regarding specific requirements and implementation.
Take advantage of this opportunity to catch up on the latest sprout research and get trained so that you are compliant with the new food safety requirements in the US.  This training will also provide a good background for those from other countries too.
We look forward to seeing you there!
